My Recipe Binder is currently in progress, and I’m pretty excited about it.
I’m not much of an analog kind of gal when it comes to most things, including meal planning, but I’ve run in to issues with my digital recipe box in the past. It is no fun when your phone is dead and you can’t access your recipe without it - or you drop your phone into a pot a soup, for example.
It is for these reasons that I decided to start a Recipe Binder. I wanted to keep it simple, so I bought a $2 binder from Staples and some protective sheets (this way I can easily remove the recipe to look at it while I’m cooking, but it is still protected from splatters and stray spices.)
I started simply printing the recipes haphazardly off of the internet, but I didn’t like how the binder was looking - I also didn’t have a way to edit those prints should I want to change an ingredient or two. I didn’t like using up a ton of ink printing pictures of the recipe, and I like to pare down the instructions to save on ink, too.
I also have several recipes that I came up with on my own, and I didn’t want to handwrite them all.
Thus came the idea of making my own recipe binder page template.
This is the printable recipe template that I came up with, and I figured since I made it already, I may as well share it with you!
It is minimal so that your printer won’t use a ton of ink, and it looks pretty. You can totally print this in grayscale if you want to!
A couple of notes about the printable:
-
This uses an Adobe Form PDF to fill in the recipe name, ingredients, and directions, so you will need Adobe Reader (free) or Adobe Acrobat (not free) to edit the document with your recipe.
-
You will have to download the fonts Quicksand and Caneletter Script if you want it to look like mine. Don’t worry, they’re free!
-
I’m including the Adobe Illustrator file for those of you with the program, in case you want to add your own colors/flair (I saved the file down to CS4, just in case!)

I hope you like it. Tell me, how do you store your recipes?
